Spotlight on black pets

It’s true that black pets often get overlooked by potential adopters in favor of animals that stand out more. Due to their coloring, black pets are often more difficult to photograph, have less distinguished features and face historically negative stereotypes, meaning it typically takes them longer to get adopted.

In the spirit of the season, we encourage you to give a black pet a chance! We have several wonderful black pets like Marlow, Selena, Percy and Petunia who are waiting patiently for their forever homes. View all available pets here and come visit us soon.

Can’t adopt? Consider fostering to give a pet a much-needed break from the shelter environment.
