Wrigley – Our Busy Bee

One-year-old Wrigley arrived at our shelter in June 2024 as a stray. This pup is INCREDIBLY smart, eager to learn, and always ready for an adventure. Dogs with active minds tend to struggle in the shelter environment due to lack of mental stimulation, and Wrigley is no exception. He can be wary of strangers at first, but LOVES to cuddle once he has warmed up.

Wrigley can be reactive on leash, but has proven to be a playgroup rockstar with other dogs. He has already shown promise with crate-training, and is picking up on housetraining while spending 1:1 time with our Behavior Team. His ideal home will be active, full of fun activities, but mindful of making slow introductions with new people and animals.

Wrigley is available for adoption, and would love to find a Foster Home to kick up his paws while he waits for forever!

Jacobi – Your Typical German Shepherd

Having a blast is the name of the game, and no one has more fun than Jacobi. This three-year-old German Shepherd is the life of the party, and loves to make new friends. The shelter environment is beginning to dampen his spirit, and we are hoping to find either an adoptive or foster home as soon as possible.

Jacobi can still act a bit puppyish, so older children are recommend who like to play ball and will enjoy a bigger dog. This silly pup has decided that cats are a no-go. But will do well with lower energy dogs who can model good canine behavior. All in all, Jacobi is a swell dog who will love an active family who shares his zest for life.

Acorn – Simply Sweet As Pie

If you’re looking for a dog who gives full body wiggles to greet you, Acorn is your dog! Acorn was brought to Great Plains SPCA in June, and started off very wary of new people and things. As he as learned to trust, our staff have started to see what a loving dog that Acorn can be.

Acorn has proven to be crate-trained, house-trained, and non-destructive in an office. Though available for adoption, his more shy nature means that the hustle and bustle of the shelter can be overwhelming at times. A foster home for this soft soul will be ideal for allowing him to decompress and truly relax. Our Behavior Team is recommending children ages sixteen and up or Acorn. People who can observe his body language and give Acorn the space he needs to fully become comfortable. If you’re looking to make a massive impact in a shelter pet’s life, please consider foster or adoption!
