Litter of kittens discovered with special needs

Seven kittens arrived at our shelter two weeks ago with the help of our dedicated HERO outreach team. Four of these kittens were showing signs of illness, potentially an upper respiratory infection.

Once examined, it was found that all four of these kittens had tested positive for FIV. FIV is a virus that weakens the immune system in cats, leaving them vulnerable to sickness, especially young kittens.

Arrow, the smallest kitten of the litter, was severely underweight and had very labored breathing. Our Veterinary Team had to place Arrow into an oxygen chamber where he stayed for three days to regulate his breathing. The oxygen chamber can be a very expensive treatment, but at Great Plains SPCA, we do whatever it takes to save the lives of our animals.

The commitment of our team has these kittens on the road to recovery! Our Veterinary Team is nothing short of extraordinary and always steps up to the plate. With the help of your donations, you make these lifesaving treatments possible!
